The executive of the World ORT Union decided here today to increase the organization’s activities in Israel in order to help repair war damage and make up for the loss of income in ORT working establishments. The decision was made at a plenary meeting of the executive here attended by 70 delegates from 13 different countries.
Max A. Braude, director-general of ORT, reported to the meeting that $550.000 in extra funds would be needed to meet additional commitments as a result of the war. He also reported changes in ORT activities necessitated by recent events in North Africa and Asia.
In his introductory address at the meeting, Daniel Mayer, ORT president, expressed on behalf of the organization, admiration for the ORT students and graduates who took part in the war.
