Defense Minister Moshe Dayan reported to the weekly meeting of the Cabinet today on his discussions yesterday with Lt. Gen. Odd Bull, chief of the United Nations cease-fire supervisory team. The talk was held prior to Gen. Bull’s departure for Cairo, where he was to confer on cease-fire arrangements with Egyptian authorities.
The Cabinet, however, did not discuss major political and international problems at its session today, due to the absences of both Prime Minister Levi Eshkol and Foreign Minister Abba Eban. Mr. Eshkol was recovering from an attack of influenza and Mr. Eban was enroute home from New York. The Cabinet will hold a special session later this week when both Mr. Eshkol and Mr. Eban will be able to attend.
The Cabinet approved a bill authorizing a two-year income tax exemption for persons donating funds to a number of causes. Those causes are the Jewish National Fund; the Keren Hayesod. financial arm of the World Zionist Organization; the Moshe Sharett Fund for Cancer Research, and Hadassah. The exemption will apply to 30 percent of the donated sums.
The Cabinet approved appointment of Dr. Zvi Dinstein as Deputy Minister of Finance. He had been Deputy Minister of Defense when Mr. Eshkol held that portfolio.
