Large Number of Jews Still Kept in Egyptian Jails; Were Arrested During Six-day War

Sixty to 70 percent of the Jewish male population in Egypt are in jail, a French reporter for Le Monde, reported today after a recent visit to Egypt. Eric Rouleau gave that figure in a report on Radio Europe.

Immediately after the end of the June war, it was reported that hundreds of Jewish nationals in Egypt who did not have foreign passports were rounded up and jailed. Those with foreign passports were expelled.
