The town of Gaza is being linked to the Israel national electric network at a cost of more than 250,000 pounds ($83,000). When the installation is completed, the Arab town will receive its electrical power from the national grid instead of from diesel generators. Since electric lines run from Gaza to the larger villages in the Gaza Strip, these other areas will also receive light and power from the Israel grid.

Gaza was off bounds to visitors today to permit a census to be taken in the town.
