The state convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People called today for defeat of the proposed new Constitution for New York State which will be submitted to the electorate on Nov. 7. A major reason for the NAACP position was the elimination the draft convention of the Blaine Amendment–the provision barring use of public funds for religious schools.

The convention resolution pointed out that repeal of the ban on state aid to public schools would “eventually lead to the destruction of the public school system and negate the accomplishments of civil rights organizations in achieving equality education.”
