A Foreign Office spokesman said yesterday that the British Government felt “deep concern” over the situation of the Jews in Arab countries. The statement was made in reply to a resolution by the Board of Deputies of British Jews drawing attention to the plight of the Jews in the Arab countries and the intensification of harassment and discrimination to which they had been subjected since the Arab-Israel war last June.
The spokesman said that “Her Majesty’s Government are deeply concerned with the situation of these (Arabic-Jewish) communities, and will continue to do all it can to alleviate their situation.”
