The Jewish Federation of Long Beach, which had previously reported that its current campaign had fallen short by some $48,000, reported today that an emergency appeal had produced contributions of $35,000 in eight days. Dr. Gilbert G. Lapid president of the Federation, in disclosing the development, said that it appeared certain that an additional $12.000 needed to assure Jewish communal services would be forthcoming. Dr. Paul Hillinger, president of the Long Beach Jewish Community Center, remarked that “the Long Beach Jewish community cares and is coming of age.”
