The Chairman of the Belgian Senate declared at its opening session today that there will be no solution to the Middle East problem until Israel’s right to existence and security is recognized by everybody, and until “the sad plight of the Arab refugees is equitably settled.”

Senator Paul Struye, who was re-elected to the chairmanship, called on the small powers, especially Belgium, to take the initiative in formulating a “Marshall Plan type” of project for the Middle East that would embrace financing, irrigation and land rehabilitation to provide work and food for the refugees and finally restore peace to the region.
