Jewish Labor Committee Urges N.Y. State to Halt Neglect of Migrant Farms Workers

Extension of the minimum wage and child labor laws to end the extreme and scandalous” conditions of farm workers in New York State, was urged today by the New York Jewish Labor Committee in testimony before the Joint Legislative Committee on Migrant Labor.

The liberal Jewish and trade union civic group called for extending the state Labor Relations Act to include farm labor organizations, passing new legislation enforcing adequate work conditions and providing decent health, housing and educational facilities for migrant workers and their families.
