Jewish Theater for Children Offers $1,000 Prize for Best Full-length Play

The Jewish Theater for Children will offer a $1,000 prize for the best full-length play for children in the English language on a Jewish theme, it was announced today by Philip Kasakove, chairman of the Theater. The prize will be the 12th offered by the group with funds made available by Norma U. Levitt, a member of the Theater’s board of directors. Manuscripts for the 1968 competition must be submitted not later than December 31, 1968.

The purpose of the contest is to stimulate original dramatic literature for older age group elementary and junior high school pupils, which will give expression to ethical and spiritual values reflected in Jewish life, folklore, history and culture. Prize winning plays will be given professional production.
