Maoz, the association to aid Russian Jewry, maintained in a statement issued here today that the actions of official organizations and authorities on behalf of Soviet Jews have accomplished nothing to alleviate their plight. The group said that the situation of Russian Jewry has, in fact worsened and called for the creation of a “national liberation committee” for Russian Jews. The association also asked that Jews the world over keep an empty chair at the Passover seder table as a gesture of solidarity with the Jews of Russia.
