El Al, Israel’s international airline, which has just announced a sizeable expansion of its routes and the number of cities served throughout the world, will start negotiations with Lufthansa, the West German airline, early next month on various traffic agreements, it was reported here by Deutschland-Berichte, a monthly digest of West German events.

The inter-line negotiations were supposed to have started in May but were postponed in order to complete preparatory work, the publication said, not because of any links with West German Middle East policies. El Al, which already operates four flights a week from Tel Aviv to West Germany, is seeking the Federal Republic’s approval for stopovers at German airports on its North America route. It would also like to conclude a pooling agreement with Lufthansa under which the companies would share their profits on the Israel-West Germany air service, Deutschland-Berichte said.
