Shazar Takes Oath of Office in Knesset, Begins Second Five-year Term As President

President Zalman Shazar took the oath of office in the Knesset (Parliament) this morning to begin his second five-year term as Israel’s Chief of State. The swearing in ceremonies were attended by some 600 invited guests including members of the diplomatic corps. Mr. Shazar was re-elected by the Knesset last March.
