Police in the Chicago suburb here were searching yesterday for persons who threw a black powder bomb near a synagogue-study building of the Hebrew Theological College here. The blast shattered six large windows but caused no injuries. Police said the bomb had been made from pipe and apparently was thrown at a window but fell short and exploded about five feet outside the Anna Sarah Katz Synagogue, which also is a study hall, press services reported. The school’s administrator. Rabbi Melvin Goodman, was quoted as saying, “I have no idea why anyone would do such a thing. As far as I know, the school has no enemies who would commit such an act.”
