Israel is prospecting for oil in several African countries in order to widen its sources of the vital fuel, it was reported here today by an Israel Treasury spokesman. The names of the countries are closely guarded secret but the prospecting is being done by the National Petroleum Co. with the assistance of Israeli oil geologists and other exports, he said. He also reported that several Latin American countries have invited Israel to help in the search for minerals other than petroleum.
