The Nigerian Embassy here today likened the case of the secessionist Ibo tribesmen of Biafra to that of the Jews who wanted to form a state of their own because of oppression and declared that “this is a complete falsification of the real issues involved in the Nigerian crisis.” The analogy was contained in “background notes” on events in Nigeria published in the “Nigerian Record” issued by the Embassy. “To those outside Nigeria,” it said, “the case for the so-called state of Biafra is simple and is this: The Ibos who inhabit the so-called Biafra are another race of Jews who want to form a state of their own because of oppression by fellow countrymen in Nigeria.”
