The board of directors of the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles has voted to support the Board of Rabbis of Southern California in its backing of the boycott of California table grapes initiated by the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee, Victor M. Carter, JFC president, announced today.

The rabbinical board, composed of 115 Orthodox, Conservative and Reform rabbis in the Greater Los Angeles area, endorsed the boycott against the growers “after the most careful consideration of all the factors involved in such a boycott,” it declared. Its social action committee said that “we cannot indifferently remain silent or inactive when our fellow human beings are deprived or ignored.” It called on congregations throughout the country to support the boycott action.
