A handwritten letter from the late Dr. Chaim Weizmann, first President of Israel, to the late Samuel Landman, written in 1917, was sold at Sothebys today to a bidder who acquired it for Israel. Also acquired for Israel was the original manuscript of Yevgeny Yevtushenko’s poem "Babi Yar." The purchase price of $7,680 was donated by Leo Graham who bought the manuscript for the Hebrew University’s committee for Soviet Jewry. There was no information about how the Yevtushenko manuscript reached London.
