The newly consecrated head of the Greek Catholic community in Israel, Archbishop Joseph Raya, has ordered the deletion from liturgical texts of all passages offensive to Jews including any linking Jews with the Crucifixion of Christ. Archbishop Raya formerly served in Birmingham, Ala. His order followed the text of the Vatican Council’s Declaration on the Jews.
