Winter storms sweeping over Israel forced the suspension of citrus loading at Haifa port today. Loading at the port of Ashdod to the south continued but with long interruptions. Pickers were unable to work in the citrus groves because of the weather. The crop was reportedly in excellent condition owing to the rains during the last few days.

Sand storms whirled across the Negev today. On the Sea of Galilee, a small body of water subject to sudden violent squalls, a fishing boat capsized. High winds and steep waves made navigation impossible.
