Egyptian coastal batteries fired several rounds at two Israeli patrol boats in the northern part of the Gulf of Suez yesterday, a military spokesman reported. The Israeli craft continued on their course without returning the fire. The spokesman said the boats were on a routine mission and in positions that complied with the cease–fire agreement. He denied an Egyptian allegation that they had crossed the cease-fire line that bisects the Gulf of Suez.

In another military action, several mortar shells were fired from Jordanian territory at Neot Hakikar near the southern tip of the Dead Sea yesterday. No casualties or damage resulted.
