“Israel Expo-69,” an industrial and trade fair said to be the largest ever assembled by Israel in a foreign country, will be opened officially here tomorrow by Josef Sapir, Minister Without Portfolio in the Israel Cabinet. The fair replaces an Israeli exhibit which burned to the ground here last September a few days before the opening of an international trade fair.
The pavilion occupies nearly 5,000 square yards and contains merchandise and displays valued at $1 million. Many of the items will be on sale and the proceeds will be donated to various Argentinean welfare institutions. One purpose of the fair is to improve Israel’s trade balance with Argentina. Last year Israel bought $12 million worth of goods from Argentina but exported only $1.4 million worth to that country.
