State Department spokesman Robert McCloskey said today that Soviet naval maneuvers in Egyptian and Syrian waters, reported by NATO headquarters in Naples bore watching and did not go unnoticed. The State Department spokesman said he did not want to raise an alarm but he did want to give the assurance that the general matter of increased Russian naval activity in the Mediterranean was being observed.
