A delegation protesting Soviet anti-Semitism presented a petition to the Osipov Balalaika orchestra prior to its appearance here. In presenting the petition to the orchestra’s agent, Joseph Sutovsky, the Cleveland Jews pointed out that Russia refuses to permit citizens to leave their country and become “reunited with members of their family…an intolerable condition.” Welcoming the group to Cleveland as “fine artists and sensitive human beings,” the petitioners’ complaint said that the Russian Government suppresses all phases of Jewish cultural life, schools and basic freedoms such as “speaking out.”
