Deplorable conditions allegedly endured by Jews imprisoned in Egypt were described today by a tourist from France who was in Cairo recently.

The tourist said there were 78 Jews at the Abou Zaabel prison there, locked in a single cell of less than 40 square feet. He said mentally ill persons from asylums were thrown in with the rest of the prisoners. They are given very little food and all of it is bad. According to the tourist, Egyptian Jews live in constant fear.
