Egyptian Planes Attack Israeli Positions; Israeli Soldier Killed in Action

Egyptian Air Force Jets attacked Israeli positions in the southern section of the Suez Canal zone today but caused no casualties. A military spokesman said the planes appeared to be Soviet-made School-7 bombers. Israel Air Force Jets staged a one-hour attack on Egyptian positions in the southern section of the canal zone last night and returned safely to their bases. An Israeli officer, Lt. Samuel Abraham, 23, of Jerusalem, was killed last night in an exchange of fire between Israeli and Egyptian forces in the canal zone. An Israeli civilian and two soldiers were wounded in further shooting today.
