Leon Hamon, French government spokesman, said yesterday President Georges Pompidou did not say in Chicago that Israel was using its racial and religious ties abroad to further its policies. He cited a denial by Rabbi Seymour J. Cohen, president of the Chicago Board of Rabbis, who was a member of a Jewish delegation that met with M. Pompidou in Chicago. Rabbi Cohen reported the French leader said Israel must become a state like any other state but did not refer to racial or religious issues.
