Israeli Ambassador Yosef Tekoah told UN Secretary General U Thant in a letter today that a photograph taken today by Israeli reconnaissance planes at Salahiye showed that “military positions” had been “demolished and filled in with earth” following Egypt’s claim that Israel had deliberately attacked a non-military children’s school. He called the Egyptian charge “untrustworthy,” and reiterated that the evidence in three previous photos “prove clearly” that the school was within a “military compound” containing “15 military tanks, 19 military trucks, 11 jeeps, four trailers and approximately 100 military positions,” which by today have been “dismantled.” Mr. Tekoah repeated to Mr. Thant his April 9 conclusion that the Egyptians attempted to “distort and conceal the nature of the military target at Salahiye” to “mislead world opinion.”
