Israel Air Force jets struck twice today at Egyptian targets in the Suez Canal zone and guerrilla bases in Jordan where attacks on Beisan Valley settlements originated during the past 24 hours. A military spokesman said all aircraft returned safely from all missions. Egyptian positions were pounded from the air yesterday. Targets included artillery and mortar emplacements and infantry bunkers all along the waterway. On Friday, Israeli Jets shot down three Egyptian MIG-21s in a dogfight in the northern section of the canal zone. All Israeli planes returned safely. Egyptian forces reportedly stepped up their artillery attacks along the canal during the past two days. Three Israeli civilians were wounded in rocket attacks from Lebanese territory today. Shimon Peretz, a 36-year-old schoolmaster was hit by shell fragments when Katyusha rockets exploded in Kiryat Shemoneh near the Lebanese border. Ten flats were slightly damaged by the blasts. A second attack caused no casualties. Two civilians were wounded by rocket fire north of the Banias river this afternoon. Katyusha rockets were also fired today at Beth Hillel near Kiryat Shemoneh setting fire to vegetation. There were no casualties or damage.
Four Israeli border policemen were injured Friday afternoon when their vehicle hit a mine near Kibbutz Ylftah In Upper Galilee. Two mortar sheila and a bazooka rocket were fired at Kibbutz Man-era north of Yiftah Friday night. Two Arab guerrillas were killed last night in the southern section of the Jordan Valley near Kasr el Yahud. There were no Israeli casualties in the encounter. An explosion on a crowded beach near Achziv Saturday morning slightly Injured two women and sent thousands of sun-bathers scurrying for shelter. A second explosion occurred about a half hour later but the beach was evacuated by then and there were no casualties. Police announced that several suspects have been detained. An Israeli patrol killed two Arab guerrillas and captured a third in a clash Friday north of Hebron. One of the dead was Identified as Abou Mansour, local commander of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a terrorist group held responsible for two fatal attacks on tourist busses in the Hebron area this year. There were no Israeli casualties.
