The modern electronic equipment reportedly promised Israel by the United States will not solve the problem of Soviet-Egyptian efficiency in downing Israeli planes, local military experts say. Israel, they say. has not yet devised a reliable defense system against the enemy which has shot down five Israeli jets in five weeks, each worth “a fortune.” The experts add, however that the Israeli Air Force has scored notable successes itself, inflicting heavy damage to Soviet missile batteries and causing heavy casualties–probably including, they say, Russian personnel.
