The reconstituted Jewish Agency will assure the close and effective partnership of Jews throughout the world and in Israel in meeting human needs in Israel, stated Agency chairman Louis Pincus in addressing the Agency’s Structure and Organization Committee. “The reconstituted Jewish Agency will assure Israel’s ability to absorb the hundreds of thousands of Jews for whom Israel means rescue and haven,” said Mr. Pincus, “However, world Jewry can contribute not only money towards these goals, but also a wealth of expertise and talent to help solve pressing social problems in Israel.” Max M. Fisher, chairman of the United Israel Appeal, which will nominate 30 percent of the membership of the reconstituted Jewish Agency Assembly, urged that “the fund raising experience of Jewish communities throughout the world, should be reviewed to assure the most effective approaches and techniques in each country.” The Structure and Organization Committee prepared a program of specific recommendations to implement the agreement between the World Zionist Organization and fund raising bodies throughout the world for the reconstitution of the Jewish Agency for Israel. These recommendations will be submitted for final approval to the Inaugural Assembly of the reconstituted Jewish Agency, to be held in Jerusalem in June, 1971.
