Israel will try to attract top Jewish scientists from abroad to settle and work in the country by means of generous cash grants, it was announced today. Absorption Minister Nathan Peled said a $1.5 million budget has been approved for an initial 15 scientists. Each will receive $100,000 for laboratory equipment and staff. The project was conceived several years ago by former Absorption Minister Shimon Peres who is presently Minister of Transport.
