Zena Harman Heads Advisory Committee for New Hadassah Community College in Israel

Zena Harman–sociologist, writer, educator–and wife of Ambassador Avraham Harman, president of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, has just accepted the chairmanship of the Hadassah Community College Advisory Committee in Israel, Mrs. Benjamin E. Gottesman, national chairman of the Hadassah Israel Education Services announced. “We are proud to enlist the expert knowledge and prestigious background of Mrs. Harman who is a mother of the Knesset, parliament, in guiding us through the pioneering period in the development of this, Israel’s first community college,” Mrs. Gottesman said. The College has begun its first semester with an enrollment of 125 students, many of whom are army veterans and recent arrivals in Israel from Eastern Europe. The Community College emphasizes a comprehensive curriculum which includes general education as well as occupational training.
