More than 32,000 persons attended the first New Jersey statewide Israel Expo-71 that began last Saturday evening and ended last night. The purpose of the cultural industrial fair, according to Joseph R. Hamilton of Short Hills, fair coordinator and national associate treasurer of the Zionist Organization of America, was to “promote the safe of Israel made products, to encourage tourism and to present the many cultural aspects of Israel.” Hamilton reported that more than $143,000 worth of Israeli products was sold during the five days. During the course of the fair, Israel’s Consul General, Rehaveam Amir, told the attendees there was the hope that peace is closer than ever before. United States Senator Harrison A. Williams, New Jersey Democrat, said that it is in the interests of the U.S. to support Israel and to help make her economically strong.
