Bayh: U.S. Currying Favor with Arabs at Expense of Israel’s Security

Sen. Birch Bayh (D., Ind.) accused the Nixon administration today of seeking to regain United States influence with the Arab states at the expense of Israel’s security and called for immediate delivery of more Phantom jets to Israel. Speaking in the Senate, Bayh cited growing concern expressed in the Senate during July about administration policy toward Israel. He said June had been the first month since the decision of the prior Johnson administration to sell Phantoms to Israel in which none were delivered.
