Funeral services for Nehemia Rabin will be held tomorrow at Manera in Upper Galilee. Rabin, father of Israel’s Ambassador to the US, Gen, Yitzhak Rabin, died yesterday at the age of 85, The services were postponed until tomorrow to allow Ambassador Rabin to fly home from Washington, The elder Rabin was born near Kiev, Russia and emigrated in 1906 to the US where he was active in a Labor Zionist group in Chicago, During World War I he joined a Jewish batallion that fought with the British against Turkey in Palestine and recruited to its ranks David Ben-Gurion and the late Itzhak Ben Zvi who became Premier and President of Israel respectively.

Mr. Rabin remained in Palestine after the war and was active in Haganah, the pre-Statehood Jewish defense force. He was in charge of weapons in the Haifa area and was once arrested by British authorities and jailed in Acre prison along with Vladimir Jabotinsky, the Zionist Revisionist leader. Rabin was a member of the Tel Aviv Labor Council. He was living with his daughter at Manera near the Lebanese border when he took sick ten days ago.
