Forty-seven Minsk Jews have asked the Soviet authorities to remedy a “crude violation” of Soviet law and initiate evening classes in Hebrew and educate teachers to lead them. They stated that the right to study and teach Hebrew is “not forbidden” by Soviet law and “categorically” protested what they called official harassment of two Jews who unsuccessfully tried to establish an ulpan.
