Deputy Premier Yigal Allon assured Moslem religious leaders in East Jerusalem today that the government is committed to protecting Moslem holy places from damage and that archaeological excavations conducted in the Temple Mount area would not endanger the adjacent mosques. The chief Kadi (religious leader) of East Jerusalem, Sheikh Hilmi el Mouchtaseb, who headed a group of Moslem dignitaries on a tour of the Temple Mount area, thanked Allon and the Israeli authorities for their consideration of the wishes of the Moslem community.
