The Tel Aviv municipal building committee last night approved a site in north Tel Aviv for construction of the first Progressive (Reform) synagogue and communal center. The vote was unanimous and opposition expected from the National Religious Party did not materialize. The Progressive congregation has been using rented premises for meetings and services up to now.

Miguel Angel Asturias, the Nobel Prize-winning Guatemalan author, will visit Israel next week to deliver three lectures on Latin American literature at the Hebrew University.
