Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress, said today there was a chance that Holocaust survivors who lived in Communist countries after World War II and recently moved to Israel might be personally indemnified by West Germany. At a meeting with a delegation of the Haifa Documentation Center, Dr. Goldmann said the German authorities seemed inclined toward accepting this arrangement, even though the deadline for reparations claims was 1955. He indicated that instead of claims being transmitted directly to Bonn, the Germans would give a lump sum to Israeli authorities, who would distribute it to applicants.
