Political circles here said tonight that Israel would submit a resolution to the Security Council calling for a general prisoner-of-war exchange should Lebanon and Syria introduce resolutions of their own demanding the return of five high-ranking Syrian officers and a Lebanese captain captured by Israel last June 21.
The circles reaffirmed Israel’s objection to any arrangement other than a general POW exchange between Israel, Egypt and Syria. There are ten Israeli prisoners in Cairo and three in Damascus.
