Aharon Yadlin, Secretary General of the Labor Party, claimed today that it was Israel’s mission to combat assimilation and mixed marriages among Jews all over the world and thus “assume responsibility for the Jewish nation.” Addressing the Labor Zionist secretariate here, Yadlin said the task could be accomplished by strengthening Zionist feelings and furthering Jewish education among the youth in the diaspora. Israel, he said, must serve as a “nation of absorption” and he called on the Labor movement here to create the necessary atmosphere for absorbing newcomers while its followers abroad become the spearheads of Jewish education and Zionism.
