Four local youths and an Israeli underworld character have been taken into custody on charges of rape and attempted rape of two tourists, police reported today. They said a man known to the underworld as “Shulman-Will-Pay” was remanded for ten days on suspicion of raping a South African girl he allegedly lured to his flat. The four youths, also remanded for ten days, are accused of the attempted rape of an American girl who hitched a ride with them. The girl has postponed her departure for the US in order to testify at the trial.
A decomposed body found in a Ramat Gan apartment yesterday was identified by police as David Idelman, 22, an American known to have suffered from epilepsy.
