Argentine President General Alejandro Agustin Lanusse sent Dr. Sion Cohen Imach. president of the DAIA, the following New Year’s message: “On the eve of the Jewish New Year and Day of Atonement it is a pleasure for me to convey a cordial greeting to the noble Jewish community of Argentina. The government is fully aware of the significance of this community’s contribution to the material and spiritual progress of the nation.”
Lanusse stated that “the acknowledgement of this important role induce me to express my conviction that this sector of our people will intensify–if this were possible–its efforts for the well-being of the fatherland and of all its sons particularly in these moments in which this country is on its path stepping firmly to the full force of its democratic institutions.”
