The Association of Jewish Journalists and Authors In England has invited 44 Soviet Jewish writers to a Joint meeting in a neutral country “such as Finland or Switzerland” to consider ways and means to preserve Yiddish. Among those invited were such pro-Soviet writers as Aron Vergelis, Sonia Frei and Uzi Miller; several Jewish activists, and some neutrals, but the invitation–written in Yid dish–stressed that the meet was to be non-political. A spokesman for the English writers’ association told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that at the last symposium of Yiddish writers in Paris warm support was given for the idea of a pro-Yiddish conference.
