Louis P. Rocker, a long-time Zionist leader in the United States and a president of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency for several years beginning in 1952, died here last week at the age of 78. Born in Skalit, Austria, he came with his parents to the U.S. at the age of one and had been an Israeli resident since 1960. Mr. Rocker was an honorary vice-president of the Jewish National Fund since 1925 and was treasurer of the Zionist Organization of America from 1937 to 1942. He became a member of the New York Stock Exchange in 1926 and a stock broker in 1952. He was also a treasurer of the Rasco Israel Corp, and the Rasco Financial Corp.; a past president of Young Judea and was associated with Bnai Zion. Mr. Rocker first bought the vessel that later became the refugee ship, “Exodus.”
