The Board of Deputies of British Jews agreed this weekend to debate at a future meeting the question of anti-Semitism disguised as anti-Zionism. The debate was called for by a number of members at the meeting after Victor Miscon, vice-president of the Board and chairman of its Jewish defense and group relations committee, cautioned that “We must not make the mistake of thinking that everyone who supports the Arab cause in the Middle East confrontation is necessarily anti-Semitic.”

Miscon added that “It is true, however, that a great deal of what is truly anti-Semitic is concealed under the umbrella of anti-Zionism.” He emphasized the need for extreme vigilance in connection with Arab terrorist activities. Referring to a warning from Scotland Yard last week that letter bombs were being mailed from Singapore. Miscon said that they could also come from elsewhere “or even from this country, and everybody should exercise great care with the mail.”
