Pinhas Sapir, the Finance Minister of Israel, said here that he found continued support for his nation’s economic needs during his talks with U.S. State Department and Treasury officials in Washington last week and that Premier Golda Meir’s visit to Washington next week “is expected to enhance the already strong and friendly ties between our two democratic nations.” Sapir said that Israel continues to seek, “In the words of President Nixon, peace with honor in the Middle East.” He added, “We hope the apparent approach of the end of hostilities in southeast Asia will lead to peace in the entire world.”

Sapir, addressing the concluding banquet of the eighth annual mid-winter conference of the Israel Histadrut Foundation here Thursday night, described the Foundation as “a revolutionary new concept which will, in the coming years, produce hundreds of millions of dollars for Israel.” He praised the recently inaugurated program of Histadrut to provide $25 million in mortgage financing for housing for Israeli war veterans and young married couples.
