The Congress has adopted without dissent a joint resolution proclaiming April 29 the 30th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising against the Nazi occupying forces. The resolution is at the White House for President Nixon’s signature.
Action on the resolution was completed Thursday by the Senate where it had been introduced by Senators Jacob K. Javits (R.NY) and Abraham Ribicoff (D.Conn.). It was originally introduced in the House by Rep. Bertram Podell (D.NY) and 20 co-sponsors. The resolution observes that the Nazis were confronted by “beleaguered and outnumbered Jews who by their heroic struggle reaffirmed the ineradicable determination of mankind to fight for freedom from oppression and symbolized the indestructible spirit of liberty.”
