A Federal Court here yesterday convicted Sharif Bishara Sirhan, the 39-year-old brother of the assassin of Robert F. Kennedy, of writing a letter threatening to kill Golda Meir, the Prime Minister of Israel, when she visited the U.S. early this year.
The maximum penalty for the offense is five years imprisonment and a $5000 fine. Sirhan’s threat was in a letter addressed to Secretary of State William P. Rogers dated Feb. 18, 1973. The letter read in part: “The dead conscience, Russian born Golda Meir, will be shot and killed… March 1.” The sentencing was set for July 2.
